Aldi

Budget supermarket on Edgefield Avenue on the western edge of Gosforth, in Fawdon, for low-cost weekly grocery shopping.

About Aldi

Aldi on Edgefield Avenue is the nearest discount supermarket to Gosforth, sitting just to the west in Fawdon and within easy reach of West Gosforth and the Montagu and Kenton estates. As one of the budget chains it works on a smaller, tightly curated range built around own-label products, weekly Specialbuys and keen prices, so it is the go-to for keeping the weekly grocery bill down rather than for a huge branded selection.

The store has its own car park and the usual Aldi format, quick tills, a bakery section and a rotating middle aisle of non-food bargains. It complements rather than replaces the larger Sainsbury's and Asda stores: many local households use Aldi for the value staples and top up elsewhere for anything it does not stock. It is an easy drive or bus ride from most of western Gosforth.
