About Babucho
Babucho is a contemporary Italian-inspired restaurant on Gosforth High Street, offering a menu of steaks, fresh pasta, risottos, and seafood alongside a strong cocktail and wine list. The interior is sleek and modern with a smart-casual dress code, a step up from the typical High Street dining experience. Popular for celebrations, date nights, and business meals, it brings a touch of city-centre glamour to Gosforth. The cocktail bar area is a draw in its own right for pre-dinner or after-dinner drinks. Service is polished and attentive. Booking is recommended, especially on weekends. Housed in a converted church on West Avenue just off the High Street, the restaurant seats around 200 and keeps two semi-private mezzanine spaces upstairs, each an oval table with banquette seating for 12 to 15 guests overlooking the dining room below. Groups of 12 or more can order from tailored party menus of sharing platters, seafood, grills and pizzas, and the whole venue can be hired exclusively for up to 200 guests outside normal trading hours, which makes it one of the better options on the High Street for a work Christmas meal or a large family celebration. It does not open on Christmas Day.
