About George Payne Butchers
George Payne Butchers is a traditional family butcher established by George Payne in Brunton Park, Gosforth, in 1987. The shop sources carefully selected meat from local Northumberland producers who practise traditional, non-intensive farming, and is accredited by the Rare Breeds Survival Trust. George Payne is named among Rick Stein's Food Heroes and is a founder member of the national Butchers Q Guild. The shop cures its own dry-cured bacon and pancetta, and was a runner-up in the UK final of the Butchers Q Guild BBQ Competition with a smoked brisket burger. It is located at 27 Princes Road, around four miles north of Newcastle city centre.
