About Lovage
Lovage on St George's Terrace in Jesmond earned a Michelin Guide listing within months of opening and followed it with 2 AA Rosettes, awarded in February 2026, making it one of the North East's finest neighbourhood bistros. Head Chef Kleo, Albanian by birth and having spent time in Italy before settling in Newcastle, brings a Mediterranean heritage that runs through every dish; the cooking is seasonal, flavour-driven, and unshowy, excellent food served in a warm, unpretentious setting rather than stiff-collared fine dining. Seasonal menus change regularly, with a tasting menu for those who want to put themselves in the kitchen's hands and a traditional Sunday roast, complemented by a thoughtfully curated wine list. The restaurant is deliberately small and intimate, so booking ahead is essential, particularly at weekends.
