Midsummer: Threads of Courage — BALTIC (Free)
A free midsummer Refugee Week celebration at BALTIC with food, workshops, a fashion showcase of traditional dress, live music, henna, and storytelling.
About This Event
BALTIC hosts a free midsummer evening marking Refugee Week 2026 with Threads of Courage — a community celebration of resilience and connection through creative arts. The centrepiece is a striking fashion showcase featuring traditional dress modelled by people with refugee and asylum-seeking experience, alongside a kimono-inspired collection and innovative upcycled garments. The evening also includes flower crown making, henna designs, jewellery workshops, live music performances, and food from a diverse range of contributors. Organised in collaboration with Friends of the Earth, Walking With in North Tyneside, Green Heart Collective, and Tynemouth Together with Refugees, it is a warm and welcoming event for all ages.
