About This Event

This annual weekend transforms the Stephenson Steam Railway into a haven for model railway enthusiasts, with layouts from model railway groups across the region on display, all focusing on North East railways. Alongside the exhibition layouts you'll find miniature live-steam displays and scale models of the railway's own locomotives, making it a rewarding afternoon out whether you're a lifelong modeller or a family looking to spark a young imagination. Heritage train rides run on both days at 11.30am, 12.30pm, 2pm and 3pm, diesel-hauled on the Saturday and steam-hauled on the Sunday. Admission to the museum is a modest £5 for adults and £3 for children (under-4s free), with train rides charged separately; tickets are bought on the day.
