Free Climate Film Screening Comes to Gosforth: The People's Emergency Briefing

A free 50-minute screening of the People's Emergency Briefing comes to Sacred Heart Church Hall in North Gosforth on Monday 13 July — the same expert briefing shown to MPs at Westminster, now open to the community.

A free community film screening is coming to North Gosforth this month, giving residents the chance to hear directly from some of the UK's leading scientists on the climate and nature crisis. The People's Emergency Briefing will be shown at Sacred Heart Church Hall on the Great North Road on Monday 13 July, from 6.30pm to 8pm, with free entry.

What is the People's Emergency Briefing?

The People's Emergency Briefing is a 50-minute film in which nine of the UK's leading scientists and experts set out the evidence on the climate and nature crisis in clear, plain language. It grew out of the National Emergency Briefing held at Westminster in late 2025, where more than 1,200 politicians and leaders from business, faith, sport and the media were briefed on what climate and nature breakdown means for health, food, national security and the economy. That event was covered by ITV, Channel 4 and The Times.

The film distils the same evidence into a single, accessible account made for community audiences. Importantly, it is not designed to frighten — the emphasis is on clear information and credible, positive responses, followed by the chance for neighbours to talk together about what it means locally.

Since its release, the briefing has been shown at more than 1,600 community screenings across the UK and, more recently, around the world — in village halls, cinemas, faith spaces and workplaces.
