A big weekend in Gosforth with the Northumberland Plate Festival bringing the crowds to High Gosforth Park, live theatre in Central Park, and England's World Cup campaign continuing on the big screen. Further afield there is food, dance, and a market under the Victorian canopy at Tynemouth. Here is what is on from Friday to Sunday.

Northumberland Plate Festival 2026

Saturday 27 June at Newcastle Racecourse, High Gosforth Park. The highlight of the Newcastle racing calendar returns for one of the biggest flat racing days in the country. A full card of racing, hospitality, and atmosphere right on Gosforth's doorstep. Book early if you want a spot in the grandstand.

Three Inch Fools: King Arthur and the Holy Fail

Saturday 27 June, 4pm at Gosforth Central Park. Outdoor theatre at its best -- the Three Inch Fools bring their trademark wit and physical comedy to Gosforth Central Park with a family-friendly retelling of the King Arthur legend. Bring a blanket and a picnic.

World Cup: Panama v England -- Live Screening

Friday 27 June, 10pm at The Brandling Arms. England's World Cup campaign continues with a late kick-off against Panama. The Brandling Arms will be showing it live with the volume up. Get there early to grab a seat.

Something in the Water (Joe McElderry)

Saturday 28 June at Theatre Royal, Newcastle. South Shields' own Joe McElderry stars in this new musical at the Theatre Royal, with performances at 2:30pm and 7:30pm. A feel-good show from one of the region's best-known voices.

Buzz Dance: At The Movies

Friday 27 June, 7:30pm at Northern Stage. A high-energy dance showcase inspired by the big screen, performed at Northern Stage. A great way to start the weekend if you fancy something different.

Feast by the Sea

Saturday and Sunday at Spanish City, Whitley Bay. Street food, local producers, and live entertainment at the iconic Spanish City. A brilliant excuse for a trip to the coast this weekend.

Tynemouth Station Market

Saturday 27 June, 9am-4pm at Tynemouth Station. FREE entry. Handmade crafts, vintage finds, street food, and live music beneath the Victorian canopy. A short Metro ride from Gosforth and a reliable Saturday out.
