About Gosforth Harriers & Athletics Club

Gosforth Harriers & AC was founded in 1927 and has grown into one of the most respected athletics clubs in the North East. Based at Great Park Community Centre, the club has around 140 active members ranging from children of eight years old through to competitive veterans. Members compete across road running, cross country, track and field, and fell running, from local races to national championships. The club runs structured weekly training sessions across several locations, including Monday evenings at Great Park, Wednesday track sessions at Whitley Bay, Saturday speed and endurance work at High Gosforth Park, and a social Sunday long run. The junior section welcomes children from age eight, though the beginners group is currently oversubscribed. Gosforth Harriers also organises the popular annual Summer Relays at Newcastle Great Park and fields teams in the North East Harrier League cross country competition.
