Named after a local figure, it offers the typical Wetherspoons combination of affordable food, a wide range of real ales and lagers, and a no-nonsense atmosphere. The building has been well-converted, retaining some original features while providing plenty of space across two floors. The large beer garden is one of the biggest outdoor drinking spaces in Gosforth and gets packed on sunny days. A solid choice for a cheap pint and a burger.
