About This Event

This Natural History Society of Northumbria course teaches how to monitor wild mammals with camera traps. The first Saturday session covers how camera traps work, choosing settings and locations, and deploying cameras on Gosforth Nature Reserve. The second, on 21 November, covers reviewing and classifying the images and footage on the MammalWeb platform, identifying species and submitting data to monitoring programmes. The tutor is Dr Sammy Mason, a trustee of MammalWeb, a charity promoting camera trapping and citizen science. The Field Studies Room is fully wheelchair accessible, although the camera locations may not be. The course costs £60 for NHSN members and £70 for non-members, booked through Eventbrite.
