The Lion in Winter at the People's Theatre
James Goldman's sharp, darkly funny Plantagenet drama at the People's Theatre in Heaton.
About This Event
Christmas 1183, and the fractured Plantagenet family gathers for conflict rather than celebration. Eleanor of Aquitaine, a former queen turned prisoner, joins King Henry II and their sons in a dangerous game of power, manipulation and deception. James Goldman's play is billed here as sibling rivalry, adultery and dungeons in a sharp, darkly funny modern classic. Performances run nightly at 7.30pm from 23 to 28 November 2026 at the theatre on Stephenson Road, Heaton.
