Church Hall Groups

Little Saints at All Saints' Centre on West Avenue runs every Tuesday 1:00-2:30pm (term time). Ages 0-5, drop-in, no booking needed. £3.50 first child, £1 each additional child or under-6-months.

Sacred Heart Mother and Toddler Group at Sacred Heart Church on Great North Road runs every Monday 9:30-11:00am (term time). Under 3s. £2 per child.

St Mary's Baby and Toddler Group runs every Tuesday 10:00-11:30am (term time). Birth to 5 years.

Brunton Park Toddler Groups

At St Aidan's Community Centre on Princes Road, two groups run:

Brunton Park Toddler Group (walkers, birth to 5) — Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:45-11:45am. Drop-in, register on first visit.

Brunton Babies (non-walkers/pre-walkers) — Mondays and Fridays 9:45-11:45am.

Gosforth Library

Gosforth Library on the High Street is a designated Children & Families Hub. Free Under 5s Storytime runs:

Tuesdays 11:00-11:30am and Fridays 10:30-11:00am (term time). Drop-in, no booking needed. The library also offers free baby massage sessions, baby socials, and breastfeeding support — contact the hub on 0191 277 1631 for the current timetable.

Music Classes

Hartbeeps runs at the Brandling Arms on Thursdays — Baby Bells, Baby Beeps, and Happy House sessions from 9:30am through to 12:45pm. Interactive multi-sensory classes.

Rhythm Time at Trinity Centre on the High Street — Wednesdays 10:40-11:10am. 30-minute music sessions with singing, rhymes, percussion, and dancing. Birth to pre-school.

Music Bugs also runs at Trinity Centre — Baby Bugs, Mini Bugs, and Jumping Bugs classes for 6 months to 4 years.

Lullababy at Trinity Centre — Mondays (term time). Step 1 Baby Foundation Course (0-6 months, 12:00-1:00pm) covers baby massage, baby yoga, tummy time, and sensory play. Step 2 Baby Development Course (2-13 months, 10:00-10:45am and 11:00-11:45am).

Sensory Play

Adventure Babies at Coxlodge Methodist Church on Kenton Road — Tuesdays. Interactive sensory storytelling with a different book each week, brought to life with props, puppets, and messy play. Pay-as-you-go.

Bloom Baby Classes at Tesco Kingston Park — Tuesdays. Busy Bees (6-15 months) at 9:45am, Caterpillar Club (0-6 months) at 10:45am. £32 per term or £8.25 pay-as-you-go.

Grow + Play runs a Montessori playroom in central Gosforth with authentic Montessori equipment, healthy snacks, and free tea/coffee for parents. Pay-as-you-go or 6-session pass. Book via bookwhen.com/growandplay.

Soft Play

Hopscotch Play Cafe at 117 High Street is a dedicated soft play cafe for under-6s, with a separate under-1s area featuring sensory play and pull-up bars. Bookable sessions up to 1 hour 45 minutes; walk-ins accepted but booking recommended.

Baby Swimming

Puddle Ducks at the Grand Hotel, Gosforth Park — Thursday mornings. Floaties (0-9 months) and Splashers (6-15 months). Monthly subscription.

Water Babies also at the Grand Hotel — heated pool, maximum 10 babies per class, parent-and-baby in the water.

Gosforth Leisure Centre on Regent Farm Road runs baby and toddler swimming lessons as part of its Swim School programme (25m pool + learner pool). Contact 0191 255 9828.

Nuffield Health Gosforth offers baby lessons from 5 months in a heated pool, 50 weeks a year.

NCT

NCT Bumps and Babies Gosforth is a free, informal drop-in for expectant parents and parents with new babies. No membership required. Venue and schedule vary — contact parentsupport.newcastleandgateshead@nct.org.uk for current details.

Tips

Term time only. Most groups stop during school holidays. Check before travelling.

Arrive early. The most popular groups (especially library storytime and Hartbeeps) fill up quickly.

Bring a change of clothes. Sensory and messy play sessions mean exactly what they say.
