Spotlight: Mum-Dance Gosforth
The 80s dance fitness class that has got 30,000 women fit the fun way — Tuesday evenings in Gosforth with a walk-you-in buddy system so nobody arrives alone.
Fitness that feels like a night out rather than a chore — that is the premise behind Mum-Dance Gosforth, and it is a formula that has now got over 30,000 women moving across the UK.
What it is
Mum-Dance is an 80s and 90s dance fitness class. Think big tunes, fun choreography, and an atmosphere closer to a girls' night out than a gym class. You do not need to be a mum, and you definitely do not need to be a dancer — just someone who wants to get fit while having a genuinely good time.
The buddy system
One of the most thoughtful touches: when you book your class, you are added to the class WhatsApp group where you can request a Walk You In Buddy. One of the existing Mum-Dancers will meet you outside and walk in with you. No one walks in alone at Mum-Dance — a small detail that removes the biggest barrier to trying something new.
When and where
Gosforth classes run on Tuesdays from 7pm to 8pm at Westfield School, Oakfield Road, Gosforth, NE3 4HS.
The bigger picture
Mum-Dance now has classes across the UK, Scotland, Ireland, Gibraltar, and the USA. The Gosforth class is part of that growing movement — proof that fitness works best when it does not feel like exercise. Visit mum-dance.co.uk/pages/gosforth-class to book.
