If you are looking for a restaurant that combines serious food with a genuinely vibrant atmosphere, Sohe on Osborne Road in Jesmond is difficult to beat. This Pan-Asian restaurant draws influences from Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, and Korea to create a menu built around sharing plates, bold flavours, and beautifully presented cocktails.

The interior

The space is undeniably striking — sparkling chandeliers made from hanging lightbulbs, mahogany wood tables, plush booths, chevron flooring, exposed brickwork, and plenty of leafy green plants lending an oriental ambience. It photographs beautifully, which partly explains its enduring popularity on social media.

The food

The sharing plates format encourages exploration. Expect dishes that combine traditional Asian techniques with modern presentation — from delicate sushi and tempura to rich curries and sizzling stir-fries. The menu is designed for two or more diners to order several plates and share across the table.

Bottomless brunch

Sohe's bottomless brunch (Fridays, Saturdays 12-5pm and Sundays 12-6pm) has become one of Jesmond's most popular weekend rituals. For a set price, you get unlimited drinks alongside a platter of sharer starters and a main course.

Getting there

At 97-103 Osborne Road, Sohe is an easy ten-minute drive from Gosforth or a short hop on the Metro to Jesmond station. The kitchen opens at 5pm Monday to Thursday and from noon on weekends.
