About Gosforth Sports Association
Gosforth Sports Association runs the Broadway West Playing Fields in west Gosforth as a multi-sport facility and community venue. The ground is owned by Newcastle City Council, with the Association holding a long lease on the site and clubhouse, and it is one of the busiest pieces of sports land in the north of the city. Resident clubs cover an unusually wide spread of sports for one site: Gosforth Rugby and Newcastle City Cricket are the best known, alongside the Tyne Tees Tigers Australian rules side, the Newcastle Nighthawks baseball club, Newcastle Brown Ultimate, the Newcastle Knights lacrosse club and the Pirates Dive Club. The site sits between Broadway West and Kingston Park Road, close to Wansbeck Road Metro and within walking distance of much of west Gosforth. Beyond the regular fixture list it also hosts community events through the year, most visibly the Newcastle Round Table fireworks extravaganza each November, which has become the biggest organised bonfire-night display in this part of Newcastle. Membership and training details are handled by the individual clubs rather than centrally, so contact the relevant club through the Association's website.
