The Cumberland Arms

Traditional Ouseburn pub and one of Newcastle's best folk music venues. Seven real ales, live music most nights, beer garden overlooking the valley, and B&B rooms.

About The Cumberland Arms

The Cumberland Arms is a traditional pub in Newcastle's historic Ouseburn Valley, on James Place Street. More than just a pub, it is a long-established cultural and heritage venue that has operated for at least two decades, and describes itself as celebrating life, family and culture. Alongside its bar it hosts a regular programme of live music, comedy, poetry and traditional music sessions, held both indoors and outdoors, and it has a particular association with folk and traditional performance. Overlooking the Ouseburn, it sits among the valley's cluster of independent bars, galleries and music venues and is open daily.
