Summer 2026 is shaping up to be one of the most packed events calendars the North East has seen in years. Whether you want world-class music on your doorstep, free family days out, outdoor theatre in the park, or a cold pint at a beer festival, there is something for everyone between now and the end of August.

Here is our pick of the best events happening in and around Gosforth this summer.

Big Music Festivals

The headline act of the summer is undoubtedly In The Park Festival at Exhibition Park in Newcastle. Running across three nights in July, the line-up is exceptional: Lewis Capaldi headlines on 8 July (his biggest ever outdoor show in the city), with support from Maximo Park and Heidi Curtis. Paul Weller takes the stage on 10 July alongside Miles Kane and Amelia Coburn, and Wolf Alice close things out on 12 July with special guests KEO.

Over at Tynemouth Priory, the Mouth of the Tyne Festival runs 9-12 July with The K's, Ministry of Sound Classical with Utah Saints, Self Esteem, and James across four nights. All four evenings are sold out, so you will need to hunt for returns.

Later in the summer, the Lindisfarne Festival (3-5 September) returns to the stunning Northumberland coast near Holy Island with Faithless, Razorlight, and The Proclaimers headlining a weekend of music, yoga, and late-night DJ sets.

Closer to home, Marrapalooza takes over the Ouseburn Valley on 6-7 June with multiple stages and acts across venues including The Cumberland Arms. And on Blyth Beach, the Blyth Live Music Festival (20 June) is an all-day affair headlined by D:Ream.

Right Here in Gosforth

Gosforth Civic Theatre has a cracking summer programme. Highlights include Strictly Smokin' Big Band (5 June), Azra Glow dance and circus spectacle for families (13 June), The Steelers Play Steely Dan (19 June), Street Food Fridays throughout the summer, and the ever-popular GCT Beer Festival: Summer Slam on 1 August. The theatre is also running a Get Creative Takeover Summer School for children (17 August) and live music most weeks.

The Royalty Cinema returns to Gosforth Central Park on 6 June for a weekend of outdoor film screenings with food stalls — bring a blanket and enjoy a summer evening under the stars. And on 27 June, the Three Inch Fools bring their hilarious outdoor theatre show King Arthur and the Holy Fail to the park.

The Gosforth Central Market (25 July) in Central Park is always worth a visit for local producers and makers, and the All Saints Farmers Market at All Saints Church runs monthly from May onwards.

At Northern RFC, the social calendar includes themed dining evenings — French Night (8 May), Greek Night (22 May), and the landmark 150th Anniversary Gala on 15 May, celebrating one of England's oldest rugby clubs.
