About St Nicholas Church Gosforth
St Nicholas is the parish church of Gosforth, part of the Church of England Diocese of Newcastle. The parish is believed to date from Saxon times, though the current building was consecrated in 1799, designed by architect John Dodds. The celebrated Newcastle architect John Dobson enlarged the church in 1820 in the same Georgian classical style, with further extensions in 1912 and 1959. The main Sunday service is at 10am, with a Prayer Book Holy Communion on Thursdays at 10am and an evening service on the first Sunday of each month. The church is closely linked to Archbishop Runcie Church of England First School.
